A short-term goal: 10:10
Tired of promises like "cutting emissions 83% below 2005 levels by 2050" that will never really happen? George Monbiot is promoting a new campaign in the UK called 10:10. Taking "the pledge" means committing to reduce your GHG emissions by 10% in 2010.
The focus is immediate and behavioral, which is a nice complement to the rest of what's going on in the climate change world (cap-and-trade, etc.). That said, I'm skeptical of its ability to affect change on a massive scale. I'll root for it, though.
